Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between achievement goal orientation and academic engagement, by examining the mediating functions of perceived school climate and academic self-efficacy. The method of research was descriptive – correlational Type of path analysis and the statistical population included all students of all secondary school students of khorammabad in the academic year 2021-2022, that among the samples, 334 students are entered to the analysis by were selected using random cluster sampling. The data are collected by Achievement Goal Questionnaire Scale Elliot and McGregor (2002), School Climate Perception Scale Jia and et.al (2009), Academic Efficacy Scale Patrick, Hicks and Ryan (1997) and Study Engagement Scale (Reeve, 2013). The path analysis method was used to evaluate the relationships between variables. The results show that both mastery-approach goals and performance-avoidance goals have a positive, direct, predictive effect on students’ academic engagement. Additionally, both goal orientations indirectly predict academic engagement through perceived school climate and academic self-efficacy, separately. This study highlights the role of environmental as well as personal factors in facilitating self-regulated learning among students.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the mediating role of academic engagement in the relationship between personality traits and self- worth with academic self-efficacy in male high school students. In a correlational design, 306 male secondary school students of Gonabad city were selected in the year of 2023 with a multi-stage cluster sampling method, and the questionnaires of Neo personality traits (1985), self-worth by Krueger et al(2003), self The academic efficacy of Morgan and Jenks (1999) and the academic engagement of Rio (2013) were completed. Data analysis was done with Pearson correlation and structural equation modeling. The hypothesized model had a good fit with the data. The results showed that academic engagement plays a mediating role in the relationship between personality traits and self-esteem with academic self-efficacy, and self- worth has a greater indirect effect on academic self-efficacy, and the direct effects of personality traits and self- worth on academic self-efficacy were greater than their indirect effects through academic engagement. Based on this, it can be concluded that students' academic self-efficacy can be increased due to the relationship between personality traits and self-worth with academic involvement, and this issue is a positive predictor for students' academic self-efficacy.

Academic competence beliefs, including self-concept and self-efficacy, are effective predictors of educational outcomes. Of course, there is little knowledge about the role of these beliefs in science. So far, no structural relationship between competence beliefs and educational antecedents and outcomes has been studied for science in Iran. The present study investigated those relationships using structural equation modeling for 920 Iranian students. The results showed that the correlation between academic self-efficacy and academic self-concept in science is equal to 0.47, which indicates the separability of academic competence beliefs factors in science. science academic self-efficacy was more strongly influenced by the inquiry learning opportunities as an antecedent. The science academic self-concept was a better predictor of future-oriented motivation and career aspirations, while self-efficacy is a better predictor of students' current abilities in science. Inquiry-based educational class activities, positive and personal feedback provided by science teachers, and creating opportunities for students to participate in laboratory experiences can help strengthen academic competence beliefs in science. We propose the science educational design according to constructivism, the development of hands-on activities in schools, and the design of participation-based classroom activities by science teachers, in order to strengthen students' academic self-concept and self-efficacy. This reinforcement will have consequences such as the development of scientific literacy and the creation of positive career aspirations and motivations.

This study has been done with the purpose the investigating the direct and indirect effects between academic self-efficacy, 3×2 achievement goals, and intrinsic-extrinsic motivation of secondary school students in Anar city. In this correlational study, 270 students were selected by multistage cluster sampling method and responded to items of the achievement motivation scale by Vallerand et al (1992), the academic self-efficacy subscale of Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire by Pintrich & Degroot (1990), and 3×2 achievement goals questionnaire by Elliot, Murayama, and Pekrun (2011). Data were also analyzed using the path analysis method. The results showed that the direct effect of academic self-efficacy on task-approach, task-avoidance, self-approach, self-avoidance, other-approach, other-avoidance goals, and intrinsic and extrinsic motivation was significant. Other results showed that the direct effect of task-approach, self-approach, self-avoidance, and other-avoidance goals on intrinsic motivation was significant but the direct effect of task-avoidance and other-approach goals was not significant. the direct effect of self-avoidance on extrinsic motivation was significant but the direct effect of task-approach, task-avoidance, other-approach, other-avoidance, and self-approach goals was not significant. The mediating findings also showed that task-approach, self-approach, and self-avoidance goals had a significant mediating role in the relationship between academic self-efficacy and intrinsic motivation. As well as self-avoidance goals had a significant mediating role in the relationship between academic self-efficacy and extrinsic motivation. These results indicate that the type of achievement goals that learners adopt, can affect the relationship between academic self-efficacy and the type of learner motivation, especially the effect on intrinsic motivation..

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between achievement goal orientation and academic self-efficacy with academic delay of gratification through the mediating role of self-regulation learning. Participants of the present study included 220 students (124 boys and 96 girls) of high school students in Ahvaz city who were selected by multi-stage random sampling. In order to measure the variables of the research, scales was used in the study of Bembenutty and Karabenick academic delay of gratification, Pintrich and de Groot self-regulation learning, Elliot & Murayama achievement goal orientation and Morgan-Jinque's academic self-efficacy and Morgan-Jinks academic self-efficacy. The reliability and validity of the scales used through the Cronbach's alpha coefficient, split-half and confirmatory factor analysis were established. Using the SPSS and AMOS software and the Preacher and Hayes method the proposed model was investigated. The results showed that, first, the direction of the achievement goal orientation and academic self-efficacy were directly and positively predictive of self-regulation learning. Secondly, self-regulation learning is directly and positively predictive of academic delay of gratification. Thirdly, self-regulation learning has a mediating role between the achievement goal orientation and academic self-efficacy with academic delay of gratification. Therefore, attention to effective cognitive and motivational variables from one side, reduces the consequences of failure in the school and, on the other side, provides a suitable environment for increasing learning and improving performance.

Since life is constantly changing and people face new and increasing challenges, adapting to themselves and the environment is a must for the living being. The purpose of this study was to develop a structural model of social adjustment based on academic self-efficacy and family functioning mediated by cognitive strategies. The research method was correlational descriptive. The statistical population of the study consisted of 308 nursing students (MA) in Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences. Based on Morgan table, 220 students (110 boys, 110 girls) were selected through stratified random sampling. The results showed that the structural model of social adjustment with family function and academic self-efficacy mediated by metacognitive strategies on nursing students showed empirical data. Structural analysis also showed that two variables of family functioning and self-efficacy beliefs directly and indirectly through students' metacognition had a significant effect on students' social adjustment and metacognitive variables had a significant effect on students' social adjustment. Considering the influence of environmental factors that are constantly changing itself, it is necessary to pay attention to the ability to adapt to these conditions.
