In order to investigate the reliability and validity of Pemberton Happiness Index (Hervás & Vázquez, 2013), 677 Islamic Azad University students from Tehran in 2015-16 were selected by stage sampling model and completed Pemberton Happiness Index. Based on the correlation coefficient of each item with the overall score of the index and confirmatory factor analysis of the index items, no items were omitted. The reliability of the index through internal consistency was 0.90 and test-retest reliability was 0.92. For convergent validity, the correlations between the index and Oxford Happiness Inventory, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, and Internality, Powerful Others and Chance Scale, and for divergent validity the correlations with Beck Depression Inventory-Short Form and Eysenck Personality Inventory Neuroticism Scale were reported. The convergent validity coefficients were calculated from 0.52 to 0.83 and divergent validity coefficients from -0.72 to -0.80. Using the principle component analysis and varimax and oblimin rotations led to the extraction of one factor, which explained 47.41% of the total variance. The one-factor structure of the index was confirmed and its indices showed good fitness. In conclusion, the results of this study suggested that Pemberton Happiness Index is a valid instrument in the university student samples and can be useful in further studies.

The aim of the present research is determining the effectiveness and consideration of the principles of educational (instructional) designing, which is applied in cognitive load, learning and teaching in multimedia learning environments. The main concern of cognitive load has been the necessity of existence of an adjustable relationship between education and the restrictions of cognitive system of learners. Regarding the restrictions of human being’s cognitive capacity, designing various learning subjects in multimedia learning environments -based on the cognitive load- has a significant importance. This research has been selected from experimental researches pretest- posttest interfering, which has group-control (the test group has been trained according to the instructional CD based on the 14 principles of multimedia, and the control group has been trained also according to the instructional CD but without the 14 principles of multimedia). This study includes all of the counseling students of Payame Noor University of Bookan which entered the university in 1390-91; the number of the students amounts to 540 students. The specimen of the research included 180 people (110 men and 70 women) which was harmonized based on Riyun’s intelligence quotient test. Moreover, they
were chosen from two groups: test-group (including 55 men and 35 women) and control group (including 55 men and 35 women). The way of selection was based on simple and casual specimen. Different research’s instruments include: investigated learning test, Pas’s measuring cognitive load scale, the investigated instructional software based on 14 principles of multimedia, a questionnaire with 72 questions, which has been investigated based on 14 principles of multimedia. The results of the research showed that the consideration of the principles of educational designing in relation to group evidence has a meaningful effect (P>./01), in decreasing cognitive load and increasing learning of group test. Moreover, the relationship of each of the multiple factors (14 principles of multimedia) with cognitive load and learning was in a meaningful level.

The present study was carried out in order to investigate the impact of learning styles and applying semantic-mapping on the high school students’ critical thinking ability and English vocabulary learning improvement. To fulfill the purpose of the study, a sample of 123 female students studying Math and Physics were randomly selected from 4 educational districts of Karaj narrowed down to Farzanegan High school in the 1st educational district using accidental clustering sampling method. Then, they were divided into two homogenized experimental and control groups. The students completed the Critical Thinking Questionnaire (Honey, 2004) and Learning Style Questionnaire (O’Brien, 1989) in the pre- and post-test steps. They also were administered a general proficiency test of Nelson (A050) for the purpose of homogeneity, and a vocabulary test to ensure their illiteracy of them at the onset of the treatment. In addition, the same vocabulary test was taken as a post-test after 12 sessions of instruction and learning through semantic-mapping, as a vocabulary learning strategy. The data was collected. Based on the statistical analysis, the results showed the learning styles had no statistically significant impact on the students’ critical thinking ability and their vocabulary learning improvement (two-way, and ANOVA analyses) the first and second hypotheses of the study were confirmed. The third and fourth hypotheses were rejected as the results revealed that semantic-mapping had a statistically significant impact on the critical thinking ability and vocabulary learning improvement of the participants (independent T-tests). Then, some pedagogical and practical implications and suggestions for further research as well as limitations of the study are provided.

The purpose of this study was to predict high-risk behaviors based on cognitive abilities by mediating motivational structures in high school adolescents in Tehran. A total of 426 girls and boys in Tehran second high school were selected by cluster sampling, and responded to the high risk behaviors questionnaire (Zademohammdi & Ahmadabadi,1390), the motivational structure questionnaire (Cox & Klinger, 2004), and the cognitive abilities questionnaire (Nejati, 1392a). For data analysis, statistical analysis of structural equation modeling using the LISREL software was used. Fit indices indicated the fitting of the conceptual model with the data. Comparative Fit Index (CFI = 0.94), fitting goodness index (GFI = 0.95), fitted goodness softened index (AGFI 0.92), and root mean square error approximation (RMSEA = 0.08). They showed that the model fitted with the gathered data. The findings showed that the motivational structure (adaptive Non-adaptive) mediates the role of the relationship between cognitive abilities and high-risk behaviors. Also, the direct effect of adaptive and non-adaptive motivational structure on risk behaviors was significant. The direct effect of cognitive abilities on the adaptive and non-adaptive motivational structure was significant. Also, cognitive abilities were able to explain 5% of adaptive behavior variance and 28% of non-adaptive behavior variance. In addition, two variables of motivational structure (adaptive and non-adaptive behavior) and cognitive abilities could together predict 20 percent of the variance of risky behaviors.

For this, 371 students of human sciences (259 females and 112 males) from Payam-e-Noor University– Tabriz branch were randomly selected, using stratified and multiple stage cluster sampling. Big Five Inventory, Approaches and Study Skills Inventory were completed by these students and total average of students was considered as their academic performance index. The Pearson’s Correlation Test, hierarchical multiple regression analysis and path analysis were used to analyze the collected data. The Results showed that there is a positive and meaningful correlation between conscientiousness personality characteristics, strategic learning approach and students’ academic performance, but the relationship between surface learning approaches and students’ academic performance were negative and meaningful. The Results of hierarchical multiple regression analysis showed that the direct effect of conscientiousness on academic performance disappeared when introducing the strategic approaches in the second step. There were two significant predictors of academic performance in this analysis: strategic approach (with positive Beta value) and surface approach (with negative Beta value). The result of path analysis showed that indirect effect of conscientiousness personality characteristics on academic performance were mediated by the strategic approach.

The purpose of the current research was to find the causal modeling of school anxiety based on educational stressors and educational competence with the mediation of difficulty in emotion regulation in students. The current research was a descriptive correlational type in terms of its practical purpose and the method of data collection. The statistical population of the research included all the students of Region 1 of Ardabil city in the academic year of 2021-2022. 240 students participated in the research by cluster sampling method. To collect data, Phillips school anxiety questionnaires (1978), Masoumi and Dashti's educational stressors questionnaire (2016), Diperna and Elliott's educational competence (1999) and Gratz and Romer's (2004) emotion regulation difficulty were used. The collected data were analyzed using the structural equation modeling method. The results related to the model fit indices also showed that the difficulty in emotion regulation can mediate the relationship between educational stressors and educational competence with school anxiety (p<0.01). According to the research findings, educational stressors and educational competence are related to school anxiety through difficulty in regulating emotions. Therefore, it can be concluded that due to anxiety and weak ability to face challenges in school, students are at risk and this finding can be used as a research support for psychological problems in teenagers and students.

This paper investigated the relationship between social support (types, amount and importance of sources) with subjective well-being and academic achievement of pre-university female students. The research method was a descriptive and correlational (regression). The statistical population was all pre-university female students in Birjand. 220 students were selected randomly from three pre-university centres. Scale of Social Support for Children and Adolescents (CASSS2000, Malecki, Demary, & Ellliot, 2000) and Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (OHI) was used to measure the research variables. The data were analyzed using multiple regression. The research findings showed there was a statistically positive relationship between sources of social support and perceived level of support from parents and classmates with subjective well-being. In addition, only the importance of receiving support from parents related positively to students' subjective well-being. In types of support, only emotional and informational support had a statistically positive relationship with subjective well-being. On the other hand, the research results also showed that there was not a statistically correlation between types and network of social support with academic achievement. The study specifically highlights the role of parental support in subjective well-being.
